New York State Elevator Safety Bill

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On June 21, 2012 the New York State Elevator Safety Bill passed the New York State Assembly by a vote of 144-0. We have not yet passed the New York State Senate and we hope to do so when the legislature reconvenes in November-December 2012.

Thanks and congratulations go out to all of our members and officers that participated in the legislative process. We had very well attended lobby days which made a big impact. Many members sent e-mails and made phone calls to their representatives in Albany which were very helpful.

There was some very good work done by our team in Albany as well as all of our officers and staff who worked to support that team. The bill has 100 Assembly sponsors and 32 Senate sponsors.

There was a great battle waged to get the bill to the floor in both houses. The battle continues and in the fall we will be reaching out to all of you to help.

So once again, thanks and congratulations to all who have helped the bill to reach this point. While it remains a work in progress, we have made great progress.
